From residual streams released in the potato processing industry, the bioplastic Solanyl® is extracted. A key benefit of Solanyl® is that it can be reused as compost and biodegrades naturally.

The production of Solanyl® does not come at the expense of the food chain. On the contrary, it is considered a valuable use of residual streams. Through extrusion, this base material is transformed into BioBuis at VRM. Processing this 100% organic material into BioBuis and related products takes place at a much lower temperature than conventional plastics. This leads to significant energy savings and reduced CO2 emissions.

This organic tube can remain in the location where temporary sampling took place without causing environmental harm. Nature does the rest: under the influence of natural groundwater and micro-organisms present in the soil, the tube fully degrades. Over time, it transforms into compost and serves as nutrition for the earth again. No harmful residue remains in the soil.
